Lynhurst Hotel Wedding - Caleih and Douglas

This was my first Lynhurst Hotel Wedding for many years. When I shot weddings in Paisley this was a venue I came to quite a lot and in the intervening years the hotel has had a major refurbishment and it looks terrific ! As did Caleih, a beautiful bride who has two key loves in her life Shadow her dog and Dougie her (now) husband. It stood to reason that dog lover Caleihs pride and joy would be at the wedding. Caleih looked so elegant and I have to say that this wedding was just a lovely experience all round. Not just because of the couple but because their whole wedding was filled with warm wishes from all their friends and family who helped 'make the day'

After a couple of group shots inside the Lynhurst we explored the gardens and lots more of the indoor space. There was lots of lovely areas both inside and outside the hotel. It's a venue I hope to work at again soon. As for the couple themselves. I honestly didn't think I would get half the shots that I did never mind that last shot above with Caleih and Dougie. What I havent mentioned so far is that Caleih is very very camera-shy. I know that on the day she never really felt at ease getting as much attention as she did but I am sure you will agree that the resulting photographs are beautiful.

Pollok House Glasgow Wedding

Pollok House Glasgow Wedding - Kirsty and Kevin

No pressure at all with this Pollok House wedding. Just one of my friends who I have known for many years, who happens to be a professional photographer in Australia. Yikes ! I shot Kevin's sisters wedding a few years ago (the lovely Fiona at the Grand Central Hotel) which was nerve-wracking enough - but now to be shooting a fellow pro's wedding really was an experience. But I would need to say, a very happy experience.
In fact I'd go so far as to sat that Kevin and Kirsty actually made it easier for me by being fellow professionals. They knew exactly the pressures, time constraints and weather conditions that may have affected the pictures and help me make sure we got some outstanding pictures. Like many expat couples Kevin and Kirsty have a very strong, very evident bond. They got ready separately (mostly) before rendezvousing at their temporary flat where Kirsty was getting ready. From there it was onto Pollok House - bride, groom, bridesmaids and bestman- for the pictures before the ceremony. I cannot tell you what difference this makes to the flow of the day. Its wonderful but I expect it'll be a hard sell to most couples.......

Pollock House wedding photography - first dance

After the shoot, guests began to arrive and at 3pm the ceremony began. Kirsty and Kevin entered the room arm in arm and enjoyed a lovely humanist ceremony. After which we had a few more formal family pictures to take care of before everyone made their way to Hyndland for the wedding reception and a fantastic party. As many of Kevin's family hail from the islands you can guarantee that there were some expert ceilidh dancers on hand. It was a fantastic day and one that I look back on with great fondness. Not just because it's a great set of pictures which gave me sleepless nights before the day - but because there is nothing better than seeing one of mates having the best day of their life.

Dalmahoy Country Club Wedding

Dalmahoy Country Club Wedding - Sarah and Paul

Full disclosure before I tell you about this Dalmahoy Country Club Wedding - I am friends with Sarah and Paul. Although I did not know this when the initial enquiry came in. Sarah emailed through the website and we began a correspondence on her wedding plans without me realising who she was. Which is very admirable if you think about it. This meant that Sarah could be assured that we were going to treat her like a regular 1500 client. fortunately we treat all our 1500 clients as if they were our friends so the outcome was always going to be the same. This was the first wedding I have shot where the bride's father had conducted the ceremony. As a father myself I cannot image how Simon coped, not only watching his daughter walk up the aisle but to then conduct her marriage ceremony himself is, in my opinion, a remarkable feat (just look at the 'thumbs up' picture to witness his relaxed state)

On the day groom Paul was waiting for us when we arrived at Dalmahoy and we got some great shots of the lads before we then went to the brides room to get some pictures of Sarah's final preparations with her lovely bridesmaids. One of her bridesmaids, Megan (below), was one of the first weddings 1500 Photography shot. And goodness did we get out moneys worth out of those images. Megan was (quite rightly) our poster girl for years !!

Not only did Sarah's Dad conduct the ceremony but the ceremony was held in her 'own' church. Now residing in Leeds Sarah's family lived in the Dalmahoy area where St Marys was Simons church. It is located pretty much within the grounds of the country club. For the brides family this wedding was very much a homecoming. It was a brilliant day, with so many of the guests having travelled up from down south there was a real party atmosphere.  This was my first visit to the Dalmahoy County Club and it was terrific. Its alway great fun anytime you need to jump into a golf cart with a bride and groom which is what we did to get to some of the more picturesque parts of the golf course. I really really enjoyed this wedding. There was so much to love about it and so much fun and goodwill in the air. It didn't feel like work at all. Thank you Sarah and Paul

Glenbervie House Wedding

Glenbervie House Wedding - Charlotte and Brian

I do like a good Glenbervie House Weddings. I have only ever shot here once before and that was Ashley and David's wedding a few years ago. I didn't think I would ever shoot a more beautiful bride at this venue but Charlotte was absolutely stunning. We started the day at Charlotte's parents house before making our way to Our Lady of Lourdes at East Kilbride. The same church that Charlotte's parents had been married in - we even recreated one of the shots from their album in the church !! Afterwards we made our way up the M80 to Glenbervie House Hotel. Once there we got some wonderful shots of Charlotte and Brian inside the hotel as well as the famous tree-lined driveway. It's a shots that is synonymous with the venue but it is a shot that is totally irresistable (so much so that Charlotte braved the rain to get the exact shot she was after) We then stayed on to cover the speeches and the evening entertainment. I have to say that I think Brians speech picture below, with Charlottes head in her hands, is one of my favourite pictures of the year. I love it!

Glasgow University Wedding to House for an Art Lover

Glasgow University Wedding - Rachel and Brian

Again, I know I cant choose favourites but I do love a Glasgow University Wedding, especially when we go from this fabulous venue onto House for an Art Lover. I think Rachel is one of the most stunning brides we have ever shot. We started taking the pictures at her parents house in Dumbarton before making our way into the West End and to Glasgow University.  What impressed me the most about Rachel and Brian (aside from looking terrific and being great company) is that they had set aside time for the photography. I didn't demand hours and hours to shoot the wedding but we had worked out a loose but realistic timetable before the day which we stuck to. This meant lots of photo opportunities around the University and House for an Art Lover yet still leaving plenty time for the couple to mingle and meet with their guests. An amazing couple who were an absolute joy to shoot. Thank you Rachel and Brian

Pollok House Wedding

Pollok House Wedding - Patti and Mike

I love Pollok House Weddings. It is a wonderful venue with photo opportunities everywhere you point your camera. When you add a handsome couple and a fabulous wedding dress into the mix you have the recipe for a fantastic set of images. Technically this isn't a wedding as Mike and Patti had already tied the knot in the States (Patti's home) however with Mike hailing from Scotland they wanted to bring the celebrations over the Atlantic. The solution that they hit on was to host a blessing and reception at Pollok House for Mikes family (and some awesome pictures)

You'll notice that Patti's dress had a lovely vintage look. Well that's because it genuinely is vintage, Patti is wearing her grandmothers dress. This is the 4th time its been worn as a wedding dress as her grandmother, mother and aunt have all worn at it their weddings. Doesnt it look amazing? A real touch of class and completely in tune with Pollok House. I am delighted to  say that we have just been secured to photograph Mikes sisters wedding later in 2017. You can't really get a higher recommendation than that !
