Paisley Abbey Wedding - Leanne & Robert (Dalmeny Park)

I was pretty sure I was going to have fun at Robert and Leanne’s wedding, and I wasn’t disappointed. A great couple, stunning weather, patient and friendly families, super locations and a beautiful dress. I really couldn’t go wrong.

Leanne looked so beautiful and has such a great personality that photographing her and Robert (who scrubs up pretty well in a kilt) was an absolute joy from start to finish. As per usual with a 1500 wedding we started at the house capturing all the chaos & calm of the bride getting ready before moving onto Paisley Abbey.

The Abbey really is one of the best venues in Scotland for a wedding, it is simply breath-taking inside.

After the ceremony we returned to the Dalmeny Park Country House Hotel. Again, a venue which I am very familiar with from my Paisley days and again a venue which has plenty of scope for great photography. As the guests mingled and soaked up the sunshine (and champagne), Robert and Leanne help me create some amazing images.

Due to the fact that Leanne originally booked her wedding with 1500 for the wrong date (2008 instead of 2009) I had been looking forward to their wedding for a very long time. I am so glad that when it did come around it was such an excellent day in every way. I really love these guys and I am so proud if their pictures.

Incidentally Leanne’s dress was obtained from Juliettes in Paisley. Having previously met with Margret I have been a big fan of this supplier and highly recommend them. After all the fuss lately over dress shops it is good to see someone who really cares about what the bride will wear, rather than just wanting to make commission on a sale. Kelburn Park Wedding - Derek & Naomi

Kelburn Park provided the backdrop for this wedding with everything taking place outside.

Naomi & Derek took the brave decision (for Scotland) to host their ceremony in the grounds of this beautifully maintained garden, down by Largs.  We also managed to get both parties preparing for the wedding, with Derek leaving from his folks house and Naomi leaving from a guest house in the town. This allowed us to get some cracking shots before the wedding had even taken place. Once things did get going we had a fantastic time and we were extremely lucky with the weather - only suffering a mild spit of rain all day.  As you can see Naomi looked stunning and Kelburn Park did us proud.

Again with this wedding our final details meeting took place at Kelburn Park. This meant that we could fully explore the area beforehand and work out which parts of the park would be suitable for photography and which areas we could use if the weather went against us. This is something we do at 1500 Photography as a matter of course. I only mention it as many studio's do not take this meticulous approach to their weddings. It also gave us a chance to coordinate our plans with Maggie at Kelburn and have a timetable ready for the (excellent) car company - Ashton wedding cars.

I must say I am really pleased with many of the shots from this wedding and I am extremely grateful that Naomi and Derek chose me to photograph their wedding. They are a great couple who gave me loads of time on the day and who were really 'into' the photography on the day, nothing was too much bother and they were great fun the be with. Superb.

Thank you both. The memory of a couple walking down the isle to the strains of 'Home and Away' will stay with me for a long time.

The Tall Ship, Wedding - Caroline and Kenny

Another new venue for 1500 Photography, this time The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour.

As has been a bit of a theme this year Caroline and Kenny's wedding at the Tall ship had a 'wee delay' too. Unfortunately Carolines transport between her hotel and venue had a little difficulty, resulting in Caroline arriving 90 minutes late !!! However, the guest's kept themselves entertained, (the unflappable) Kenny was kept fully informed and the only person who appeared to be nervous about the lateness was me !!

When Caroline did arrive though, she looked absolutely tremendous !! As the bridemaids entered to 'Here come the Gilrs', Caroline walked down the isle to the strains of Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline'. The couple obviously really enjoyed themselves and had scattered the day with loads of small personal touches to add that little bit of extra magic to the day.

They were also were model subjects to photograph - nothing was too much bother for them and Caroline skillfully negotiated all the steep stairs between decks in her dress and heels.  Some of the images we captured are fantastic and I am really proud of them, especially as we were up against the clock to trying and get the day 'back on track' for the evening guests coming.

An interesting new venue, ace couple with bags of enthusiasm and some top drawer pictures.

All in all - a good day.
