Glasgow University Wedding to House for an Art Lover

Glasgow University Wedding - Rachel and Brian

Again, I know I cant choose favourites but I do love a Glasgow University Wedding, especially when we go from this fabulous venue onto House for an Art Lover. I think Rachel is one of the most stunning brides we have ever shot. We started taking the pictures at her parents house in Dumbarton before making our way into the West End and to Glasgow University.  What impressed me the most about Rachel and Brian (aside from looking terrific and being great company) is that they had set aside time for the photography. I didn't demand hours and hours to shoot the wedding but we had worked out a loose but realistic timetable before the day which we stuck to. This meant lots of photo opportunities around the University and House for an Art Lover yet still leaving plenty time for the couple to mingle and meet with their guests. An amazing couple who were an absolute joy to shoot. Thank you Rachel and Brian

Wedding at Glasgow University and House for an Art Lover - Ruth and David

A wedding at Glasgow University is alway an absolute pleasure, and Ruth and Davids was no exception.

wedding at glasgow uni

A cool spring day with a great couple who were brilliant fun to be around. Ruth actually works at Glasgow University. Although it's a fabulous building with so many stunning architectural features I guess not many brides have their pictures taken around their workplace ! After the ceremony it was off to may favourite city venue - House for an Art Lover

When we had finished our shots in the cloisters I thought we were done taking pictures outside. However, well done to Ruth and David, we popped over into the walled garden at House for an Art Lover for a few more shots. (Although that might also have been to give the couple a little bit of 'alone' time - very precious on a wedding day) Then we had some brilliant speeches which had both the bride and groom with their head in their hands at various points. After dinner we nipped back outside for a couple of evening shots. I am really enjoying taking some more 'exciting' pictures in the dark and against the floodlit backdrops of many of the venues. House for an Art Lover weddings though really lend themselves to all sorts of possibilities day or night and I think that is why it is such a firm favourite of 1500

House for an Art Lover Wedding - Ruth and Chris

House for an Art Lover wedding

Ruth and Chris's House for an Art Lover wedding was a wonderful way to start the wedding year. A brilliant couple with the same dry sense of humour as me, we got on like a house on fire and despite the winter chill and early evening light captured a fantastic set of images. It was easier than I make out for two reasons. One : Ruth's parents house in where we started taking our pictures was simply a gorgeous house with lots of nooks and crannys really lending themselves to photography. Even a full length mirror in the hallway inspired me to make the most of the space. Then it was onto one of the best venues in Glasgow, House for an Art Lover. Colin, the wedding coordinator at HFAL had some big shoes to fill when he took over from James. I am delighted to report that Colin is brilliant to work with and helps make your day run so smoothly, you'd think it was his wedding. I cant speak highly enough of him

House for an Art Lover gives you some many great areas inside the building to shoot. Chris and Ruth were 'on board' with my ideas as to what could be achieved at the venue and the pictures ran like a dream. It was a challenging day due to the light (or lack of it) but an absolute joy to shoot with such a top couple. We even popped outside during the evening reception for a couple of nigh time shots framing this iconic building in the background. Something that was to become a bit of a trademark in 2014. Thank you to Ruth and Chris

Blysthwood Hotel Wedding - Niki and Stephen

Blythswood Hotel Wedding

Niki and Stephens Blysthwood Hotel Wedding was a wonderful day which I will remember for a long long time. Niki the bride is, like me, bit of a film buff the echos of movies were present throughout the whole day. We started off with Niki and Stephen both getting ready at the Blythswood Hotel, so I was able to flit between both room to get both bride and groom preparation shots.

After that we were onto the magnificent Glasgow Cathedral for a ceremony in some of the most dramatic settings imaginable. When the ceremony concluded we nipped back inside for a few shots of just the couple on the alter before making our way back to the Blythswood. This was my first wedding at the Blythswood Hotel & Spa since its 2009 reopening and my goodness what a change from its old RAC days! We did manage to shoot a few images across in the square (in the freezing cold) before settling in to shoot the rest of the wedding pictures inside.

Niki had asked us to stay on and cover the evenings entertainment and that is where we really got to strech our creative muscles. First of all, in keeping with the movie theme, we put Niki "in" The Birds. Hitchcock films had been running all evening in the Blythswoods own private cinema and the tables were all named after Hitchcock movies, so the temptation to combine both was irresistible. Then we popped outside into the Glasgow night and had some fun with sparklers. The results from both shots were stunning but if you get a chance, pop over to our facebook page and see how the sparkler shot was created. Scott McKenzie of Mckenzie Wedding Films 'very kindly' captured the"creative process" (ie Gillian and I running around the couple like a couple of wallies!!)

Then back inside to catch Niki throwing some shapes on the dancefloor...... It was a fantastic day and Niki and Stephen were amazing on the day. Their enthusiasm, sense of humour and love for photography allowed me to create an absolutely stunning wedding album. Working with both of them was brilliant experience and a wedding which I loved to be a part of. Thank you both x

Crutherland House Wedding - Lesley and Steven

Crutherland House Wedding - Lesley and Steven

Lesley and Stevens Crutherland House wedding has a bit of a story attached to it, so bare with me. 7 years ago I shot Lesley's graduation photo. Lesley was really impressed with her pictures and vowed that I would be the person she gets to shoot her wedding. However at that time I was working for another studio which has since shut down and obviously moved on to start 1500 Photography. I am touched to reveal that, even after all that time, Lesley hunted me down online, eventually found me and asked if I would be available to shoot her wedding - how could I possibly say no? I was humbled to be asked.

So as you would expect we started the day at Lesleys parents house (where I got to see those graduation pictures, hung pride of place in the dining room) to capture Lesleys preparations. Then it was onto Crutherland House where the couple had opted for a humanist ceremony. Then we had the slightly ominous prospect of shooting a good number of complicated group shots. Again though I have to pay tribute to Lesley who had the guests prepped and organised - despite my reservations, the group shots ran like absolute clockwork.

Everything about the couple really impresses me. Their organisation, their determination and the bond that they have with each other. It was a fantastic day to be a part of and and I so thrilled that Lesley spent so long searching for me. A touching experience which I am very proud of.

29 Royal Exchange Square Wedding - Tracy & Riad

I have been really looking forward to posting this wedding.........

My first 1500 Photography wedding was for Colin and Judith - now a few years down the line I was honoured to be the photographer at Tracy's wedding (Colin's sister). The venue for the day was the rather splendid 29 Royal Exchange Square which gave us lots of scope for pictures with all its nooks, crannies and textures (which was just as well as it was typical Glasgow summer weather  - teeming down!!)

As you can see Tracy had an absolutely stunning dress and looked simply amazing. Riad looked pretty cool in his kilt and it was great to see all of Tracy's family again. I must admit that i was a little nervous about the day as Colin had got possibly one of the nicest albums I have ever produced...... till now. Dare I say Tracy's album might top it?

I better not, especially as I will be shooting Pams wedding in March.

Pam is Tracy and Colin's sister..........now that's pressure!!
