Mar Hall Weddings - Kerry and Ryan

Mar Hall Weddings

Mar Hall weddings are fact becoming a real favouite of mine. I love the decor of the hotel, the stunning sandstone facade and the beautiful gardens and views. However rather then me tell you about the day, here is what Kerry had to say
I got married last July at Mar Hall and Stuart from 1500 photography was my photographer. I spent a long time researching photographers and when we met with Stuart a couple of times at our venue, his passion and ability shone through from the beginning. I wanted someone with talent, who was dedicated. I knew he wasn't the cheapest option, but I also knew I had one wedding day and one wedding day alone so I wasn't going to risk a dodgy photographer.

I have to admit, I loved every second of my wedding but there were some slightly stressful moments. These were all things I hadn't anticipated. I had spent most of my time before the wedding worrying about having to have pictures taken- a task I'd normally avoid like the plague. I needn't have worried. Stuart and his partner were incredible. Within minutes I was relaxed and laughing. They managed to get photographs of both myself and my husband getting ready. They did an amazing job during the ceremony- it wasn't until the signing of the register that I even realised Stuart was there. He was so discreet.

After the ceremony though was when he really came into his own. I am so incredibly proud of those photos- if you knew me at all you'd realise how unlikely that comment is. They are artistic and different but still capture the pure happiness and joy that was our day. Every photograph in our album is one I could stare at for hours. There's one photo in particular (I don't know if you know mar hall at all) where I'm standing in front of one of the long windows leading to the garden, fanning my veil. I love it. I look at it and don't think it's really me. It makes me feel a very glamorous bride.

Stuart's passion for his photography didn't end there. When we went to pick up our album he did an amazing thing. By that point I was 7 and a half months pregnant. He offered, for free, to take some more photos. He took the same window shot, but this time with bump. It was so touching to see them side by side. It was a simple thing, but one I'm sure he'll realise I'll cherish forever.

Stuart was an integral part of the success of our day. The results were, I believe, perfect. They were even better that I envisaged. I would love to share my very positive experience with you as I know just how stressful planning a wedding can be and sometimes, as a bride, you can only take so many horror stories. I'd recommend 1500 photography and Mar Hall before anyone else. They honestly were faultless.

Sherbrooke Castle Wedding - Lesley and Ross

Sherbrooke Castle Wedding

I know I keep saying how nice my couples are but really, Lesley and Ross are such a great couple it was a total joy to photograph their Sherbrooke Castle Wedding. It was also great to return to a church I hadn't visited since my Fine Lines days, Houston and Killellan church, a magnificent old church in Houston. However we started the day at Sherbrooke Castle with Lesley's 'finishing touches' shots. Just those last few details of buttoning the dress, adding the jewellery and then the beautiful finished bride. To me it always marks the start of a stunning album. After the ceremony we use the area behind the church for our formal groups then we took a little detour to an area just next to Ross's house. To be honest at first glance it was a kind of 'nothing' area where people would walk their dog or take a Sunday stroll. However once we got down to the riverside this lovely scene opened out in front of us (shot 5) - amazing. Full credit must go to Ross who had always wanted to come here for pictures and which proved to be a great find.

Just as we were leaving Houston the weather started to turn a little for the worse but we were lucky and arrived at Sherbrooke in good time to get some more cracking images of the couple and (of course) a full group shot of all the guests. This 90% of the time means the photographer (me) clambering out of a bedroom window in an undignified fashion with a camera and Sherbrooke is no exception. I swear these windows are getting smaller as I get older...... However the results are always well worth while

Mar Hall Wedding - Lisa Marie and George

Mar Hall Wedding - Lisa Marie and George

Our first Mar Hall wedding of the year ! Lisa Marie and George. These guys are totally my heroes - a couple of international helicopter pilots!

Such a brilliant couple, such a stunning venue.......... yet such terrible weather ! Despite the vagaries of the Scottish climate putting paid to 'Plan A' we quickly put 'Plan B' into action and Lisa and George worked with us to produce some wonderful wedding shots. Luckily Mar Hall is a stunning building and the decision to move the marquee and give the wedding party a Clydeside view has been a masterstroke (especially when the Waverly steams past!)

The umbrella shot (centre) pretty much sums up the entire Scottish summer as far as wedding photography is concerned for 2012!

Lisa Maire had asked us to stay on and capture the evening celebrations. After some touching and humours speeches it was onto the dance floor for the couple. After that the guest were then invited out to release some Chinese lanterns into the night sky. Thankfully the weather relented in the evening to allow us a wonderful evening display.

House for An Art Lover Wedding - Catherine & Simon

House for An Art Lover Wedding - Catherine & Simon

We had another House for an Art Lover Wedding with Catherine and Simons wedding shortly after Amanda and Stewarts

Simon's sister is Leanne (married to Keiran at Glenskirlie) whose wedding we shot a few years ago and whose pictures won us quite a lot of attention and picked up a few awards.....so no pressure with Simon and Catherine's pictures then!!

Catherine looked absolutely beautiful and arrived in style in a classic VW Camper van.

After the ceremony we nipped over into the walled gardens next to House for An Art Lover before back inside the venue itself utilising some of the nooks and crannies of MacIntosh's wonderful building. It was a great pleasure to shoot this wedding especially as our pictures from the day were so nice, yet so different from Leanne and Kierans. I am very grateful that Catherine and Simon choose the same photographer.

House for an Art Lover Wedding - Amanda & Stewart

House for an Art Lover Wedding - Amanda and Stewart

This House for an Art Lover wedding was a real highlight for me.

Amanda and Stewart are a brilliant couple and on our very first meeting I was welcomed into parents Susan and Ian's home and immediately made to feel like a family friend. On the day of the wedding we were back at Susan and Ian's to get Amanda's preparation shots.

Ian had this idea for a picture of Amanda in the mirror with the family portrait in the background. I really like the idea and not only did it make a great picture  but its gone on to feature in the latest issue of the Scottish Wedding Directory. Thanks Ian !!

Weddings at House for an Art Lover always run like clockwork and this is great credit to James the co-ordinator at the venue. He is always there to make sure that a brides every whim is looked after (and to make sure the photographer doesn't take too long!!) We were also really lucky with the weather which went from gusty rain to a lovely sunny day within the space of 2 hours. Amanda and Stewart were just fantastic to photograph and nothing was too much bother for them. Their willingness and enthusiasm to get great pictures guaranteed a brilliant day for me and a fabulous album for them.

A top venue, top couple, lovely families and fantastic set of pictures.

St Andrews in the Square Wedding - Kathryn and Paddy

St Andrews in the Square Wedding

Remember all that snow in December? Travel chaos, roads blocked and temperatures of -10?

Well, thats when Kathryn and Paddy got married. They had their wedding at St Marys in Duntocher before making their way to St Andrews in the Square for their reception. We started the day with Kathryn and the girls at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow, we then made our way onto possibly the best example of a religious ceremony in Scotland I have seen for a long time.

Conducting the ceremony jointly were Rev Ian Miller and Father Joe Mills - a truly mixed marriage (for west central Scotland anyway!!) Not only were both faiths treated with great respect and due reverence but the personalities of the two clergy meant that the ceremony was light, humorous and welcoming to all.

Its at this point I need to doff my cap, especially to Kathryn, for donning the wellies and letting us shoot the fantastic pictures above in -6° temperatures just as the sun was setting at Glasgow Green. Then it was onto the Trongate for the now famous traffic shot. Again my grateful thanks to the couple as this is not actually the most glamorous areas of the city but they braved the traffic, 'colourful' passers by and weather to give me one of the outstanding pictures in my 2010 portfolio. Credit also to the lovely Sheila who assisted on this occasion by hiding behind the dress while I directed the couple via the mobile phone.

The coldest wedding I have ever shot with one of the warmest couples.

A truly memorable day......... 1500 Photography

House for an Art Lover Wedding - Carly & Andy

House for an Art Lover Wedding

While we are waiting for the results of the poll to come in, perhaps I can share some shots from Carly and Andy's House for an Art Lover Wedding in Glasgow. This was a lovely wedding to shoot with such a nice couple. We started off at Carly's mum's house which (for a lovely change) is just round the corner from mine! Carly's stunning dress was from Glitterati and looked absolutely beautiful (as did Carly)

When we arrived at House for an Art Lover, James was, once again, on hand to make sure the day ran absolutely to plan.

We even got a lucky break with the weather. A lovely day, great venue, terrific couple and even a Scottish footballing legend to make the day complete. Wonderful !!

Millennium Hotel Glasgow Wedding - Gillian & Paul

Millennium Hotel Glasgow Wedding

Another really nice couple for 1500 to photography.

Gillian and Paul had their wedding at the Millennium Hotel right in the very heart of Glasgow. Since the hotel is slap bang in the middle of the city Gillian and Paul thought it would be nice to head out to Kelvingrove Park for the pictures.

On out return to the hotel we used some  of the more striking features of the Millennium to give us some really great shots. Gillian and Paul were fantastic on the day, so friendly and willing and it shows in the pictures.

The last shot in the selection here is one of my favourites of the year!
