Pollok House Glasgow Wedding

Pollok House Glasgow Wedding - Kirsty and Kevin

No pressure at all with this Pollok House wedding. Just one of my friends who I have known for many years, who happens to be a professional photographer in Australia. Yikes ! I shot Kevin's sisters wedding a few years ago (the lovely Fiona at the Grand Central Hotel) which was nerve-wracking enough - but now to be shooting a fellow pro's wedding really was an experience. But I would need to say, a very happy experience.
In fact I'd go so far as to sat that Kevin and Kirsty actually made it easier for me by being fellow professionals. They knew exactly the pressures, time constraints and weather conditions that may have affected the pictures and help me make sure we got some outstanding pictures. Like many expat couples Kevin and Kirsty have a very strong, very evident bond. They got ready separately (mostly) before rendezvousing at their temporary flat where Kirsty was getting ready. From there it was onto Pollok House - bride, groom, bridesmaids and bestman- for the pictures before the ceremony. I cannot tell you what difference this makes to the flow of the day. Its wonderful but I expect it'll be a hard sell to most couples.......

Pollock House wedding photography - first dance

After the shoot, guests began to arrive and at 3pm the ceremony began. Kirsty and Kevin entered the room arm in arm and enjoyed a lovely humanist ceremony. After which we had a few more formal family pictures to take care of before everyone made their way to Hyndland for the wedding reception and a fantastic party. As many of Kevin's family hail from the islands you can guarantee that there were some expert ceilidh dancers on hand. It was a fantastic day and one that I look back on with great fondness. Not just because it's a great set of pictures which gave me sleepless nights before the day - but because there is nothing better than seeing one of mates having the best day of their life.

Pollok House Wedding

Pollok House Wedding - Patti and Mike

I love Pollok House Weddings. It is a wonderful venue with photo opportunities everywhere you point your camera. When you add a handsome couple and a fabulous wedding dress into the mix you have the recipe for a fantastic set of images. Technically this isn't a wedding as Mike and Patti had already tied the knot in the States (Patti's home) however with Mike hailing from Scotland they wanted to bring the celebrations over the Atlantic. The solution that they hit on was to host a blessing and reception at Pollok House for Mikes family (and some awesome pictures)

You'll notice that Patti's dress had a lovely vintage look. Well that's because it genuinely is vintage, Patti is wearing her grandmothers dress. This is the 4th time its been worn as a wedding dress as her grandmother, mother and aunt have all worn at it their weddings. Doesnt it look amazing? A real touch of class and completely in tune with Pollok House. I am delighted to  say that we have just been secured to photograph Mikes sisters wedding later in 2017. You can't really get a higher recommendation than that !

Loch Lomond Wedding (Cameron House) - Claire and Ian

Loch Lomond Wedding

Claire and Ian's wedding on Loch Lomond was a crazy day and lots of fun. It was an intimate affair with both the bride and groom getting ready at Cameron House, before making their way down to the marina and climbing aboard the Silver Dolphin boat. Once on board we sailed up to a lovely quiet spot on the Loch for the ceremony to take place.

Claire and Ian had come over from Ireland to enjoy some wonderful Scottish scenery and sunshine. As you can probably see from the pictures this couple were a brilliant laugh and the 'craic' was flowing all day. Relaxed, personal and more fun that it probably should have been. The perfect Loch Lomond Wedding !

Dalhousie Castle Wedding - Birgit and Leif

Dalhousie Castle Wedding - Birgit and Leif

One of the absolute joys of my job is meeting so many lovely people for all over the world. Over the last few years we have struck up a terrific relationship with many German clients who love the romance of coming to Scotland to get married. Birgit and Leif had chosen the fantastic Dalhousie Castle for their wedding. An intimate wedding with a sensational owl, ring delivery mid service (the first time I've seen this work smoothly!)

Allowing some time for the rest of the wedding party to mingle and relax with a drink Birgit, Leif and I toured the grounds of Dalhousie, enjoying some spectacular scenery and cracking shots at the same time. I love these intimate weddings and for some reason, the Germans really have a knack for them.

A fantastic couple who were terrific in front of the camera and brilliant to be around. See some more of our destination weddings on this page

Cameron House Wedding - Shelly and Ryan

Cameron House Wedding

What can I say about Shelly and Ryans Cameron House Wedding. Intimate, classy, personal, an amazing dress, fantastic views, great banter and all with two of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Ryan and Shelly had come down from Aberdeenshire to marry on Loch Lomond and Cameron House was the obvious choice for their wedding. With its great views, amazing architecture and fantastic service its hard to beat, especially for more intimate weddings like this. We started off in Shelly's room as the finishing touches were applied and caught some beautiful shots of her before we made our way downstairs to the ceremony. With a bridal party of 30 ish it meant that the couple married in the Morning Room of Cameron House, held their drinks reception in the library, popped outside for pictures and then returned to the Morning Room for dinner.

We also got the very rare chance to take the couple out onto the jetty, now the permanent home to the sea plane, thanks to the generosity of the seaplane staff. They granted us permission to grab a few shots there while the plane was out on a tour. As you can see - the weather was perfect (for a photographer). Calm, still and offering us beautiful light. It really was just a lovely day and one which Gillian and I really enjoyed and look back on with great fondness.
Even better was last week while shooting at Cameron House, who did we run into? Ryan and Shelly celebrating their first anniversary ! It was fantastic to see them both again. I couldn't believe a year had passed since the pictures above but the couple looked exactly the same (minus the formal attire obviously). Running into them was like running into a couple of old friends. Congratulations Ryan and Shelly, one of our favouate weddings of all time.

Blairquhan Castle Wedding - Cherri and Tom

Blairquhan Castle Wedding

Cherri and Tom's Blairquhan Castle wedding - what a wonderful venue, wonderful lady and wonderful day. They do things a little different in Texas. So when Texan lady Cherry came to Blairquhan Castle for her Scottish wedding she brought with her EIGHT impeccably turned out bridesmen

This was my first visit to this stunning caste set down in Ayrshire. It is a huge imposing building but once inside it feels more like a cosy retreat. I loved it and as you can see it was rather photogenic. As were our lovely bride and bridesmaids (yes we still had bridesmaids too - although they were much quieter than the boys!) With over 50% of the guests hailing from the 'lone star state' this was a real mix of cultures although both the Texans and the Scots have one thing in common. They love a party !

This wedding was terrific fun and my only sadness is that with the couple living on the other side of the pond I am unlikely to run into them again in the near future. Such warmth, fun and love from everyone who attended the wedding is evident in the pictures. It was also great to be working alongside my good friend Scott of MacKenzie Wedding Films. It was a long day and a long drive home but one that I would love to repeat. I really hope I get back to Blairquhan again soon. Although any other wedding I shoot there is going to have a lot to live up to !
