Winners annouced - 1500 Wedding Shot of the Year 2014

Laura and Stuart scoop the top prize in our wedding shot of the year competition with an astonishing 846 votes. Their stunning sunset picture taken at Boturich Castle proved to be the 'peoples choice' and the pick of our wedding images from 2014



Second place goes to Anna and Stephens nighttime shot taken in Royal exchange Square. They received 620 votes. Followed by Mairead who scored 436 votes with her [picture taken in St Mirrens cathedral in Paisley. Almost 4000 votes were cast and I don't think in all the years we have run the poll, the lead has changed hands so many times. Hearty congratulations to our winners and to our runners-up. I hope you are not too downhearted with such a fantastic showing. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and enjoy the pictures.

Cameron House Christmas Wedding

Just a few words to accompany this very festive wedding at Cameron House. Lesley and Dales seasonal wedding at Cameorn House was all the things you would expect of the venue at this time of year. Elegant, classy and somewhat timeless. A beautiful day which highlights just how little effect the weather has when you have a stunning venue and a couple who understand what can be done on the day.



A great couple who were an absolute joy to work with.

A terrific way to round off our look back over the 2013 weddings.

As you can see, we had a wee run of weddings at Cameron House. However hopefully you will see a lot of variety in the different weddings and pictures. Everytime we go here, we are looking for a different way to shoot the wedding and take a unique approach to each day. This was especially the case with Sarah and Scott who are friends of 1500 and a great couple. Sarah was a bridesmaid at one of our favourite ever weddings (Leanne and Robert back in 2009). In fact Leanne and Roberts wedding was our sample albums for many years so if you have booked us, Sarah's face may already be familiar to you.

On the wedding day itself it was so nice to catch up with Leanne who was returning the favour of being Sarah's bridesmaid. Sadly we had to dodge in and out of showers to get some pictures outside but as you have read on here many times before, thank goodness Cameron House looks great inside too. Sarah and Scott are such a lovely couple. It was really important to me to do a great job for them as they are so warm and so friendly and even though I'd only met them a few times before it genuinely felt that we were shooting a friend's wedding. My only sadness is that I wish the weather had been better for them. However I am sure that they hardly noticed. It was a wonderful day with so many great personal touches - from the Willy Wonka Candy Cart to the life-size cut out Tom Jones at the top table. Within the next day or so I will be delivering the wedding album to the couple. I cant wait to have them view the finished product and to see them both again.

Wow, just look at this Cameron House wedding !!! And just look at one of the most amazing wedding dresses you will see this year. So bold, so dazzling yet so completely appropriate to such a beautiful bride.

I have said before that I dont want to pick out favourites on my blog but this for me was possibly dress of the year. Possibly couple of the year as well ! Amazing considering the first time I met US couple Tawny and Shawn was on the day of the wedding. There are some people you just immediately hit it off with and these guys, and for that matter their guests too, were just brilliant.







Too often on this blog I will mention how the Scottish weather lets a destination wedding down - not this day . It was a sublime day on the banks of Loch Lomond and I was thrilled. This couple had come to Scotland to get married from California. Of course I told them there weather was always like this at Cameron House and that Scotland's climate was pretty similar to that of California anyway (aye right!!) We had a lovely little civil ceremony, drinks, fantastic pictures with some terrific laughs and then to top it off the bride surprised the groom with a sea plane trip that evening. I was so relaxed that I sat and enjoyed the company of the guests for a few hours before I made my own way home.

This is just such a beautiful Cameron House wedding. Linda and Garry had come down to Loch Lomond from Aberdeen to be married.

Every year at Cameron House, around this time of year, the large chestnut tree on the front lawn turns this fiery red and orange. It is quite spectacular but, more importantly, short-lived. These colours only last a very short time and the autumn winds usually make the tree bald within days. Linda and Garrys wedding was the first time in 6 years that I've managed to catch this shot. I have had in mind since I started 1500 Photography but never had a wedding there at the right time.

 



With my favourite humanist to conduct the ceremony, Linda Britton, one of my favourite venues, the intimate nature of the wedding and the beautiful autumnal colours - it was a day which I completely loved. Sometimes its better just to let the pictures do the talking
