Boturich Castle Wedding - Laura and Stuart

Boturich Castle Wedding

2014 felt like a year that we shot weddings for our friends rather than clients, and Laura and Stuarts Boturich Castle Wedding was no exception. Laura runs her own fashion boutique in Helensburgh, Laura Kate so I knew her wedding was going to be a stylish affair. When we arrived at her parents house for the bridal prep shots we were not disappointed. She looked absolutely stunning.
It was also one of the many occasions that we had an outdoor ceremony in 2014. This time at the fabulous Boturich Castle overlooking Loch Lomond. Just to add to all the great things that were happening on the day the wedding was conducted by Linda Britton, our favourite celebrant.

During the ceremony there was lots of laughter (based on Stuart the grooms cheek) and tears (courtesy of Laura's sister, who cracked during the readings). We then had a fantastic relaxed time as Laura and Stuart had sensibly set aside an adequate amount of time for the photography. This allowed us to shoot the required and requested groups, some wonderful shots of Laura and Stuart and still have lots of mingling and informal time for the couple to greet their guests. As you can see it was the perfect weather for a Scottish wedding. Dry, bright, slightly overcast then, in the evening, beautifully clear allowing us one of those famous Boturich sunsets.

A fantastic couple who are going to have one amazing album to look back on. It was one of those perfect wedding days where just everything clicked into place. It obviously helps that we have such a great relationship with the couple but I cannot begin to explain how rewarding it is when the couple afford a bit of time and respect for the actual photography itself. Given just that little bit of relaxed time allows you to capture images as beautiful as those above.

Cameron House Wedding - Linda and Garry

Cameron House Wedding

This is just such a beautiful Cameron House wedding. Linda and Garry had come down to Loch Lomond from Aberdeen to be married.

Every year at Cameron House, around this time of year, the large chestnut tree on the front lawn turns this fiery red and orange. It is quite spectacular but, more importantly, short-lived. These colours only last a very short time and the autumn winds usually make the tree bald within days. Linda and Garrys wedding was the first time in 6 years that I've managed to catch this shot. I have had in mind since I started 1500 Photography but never had a wedding there at the right time.

With my favourite humanist to conduct the ceremony, Linda Britton, one of my favourite venues, the intimate nature of the wedding and the beautiful autumnal colours - it was a day which I completely loved. Sometimes its better just to let the pictures do the talking

Cameron House Wedding Photography - Lissa and Guy

Cameron House Wedding Photography

More Cameron House Wedding Photography for you to enjoy. This time with Lissa and Guy. One of my absolute favourite weddings from last year with an awesome couple. We started off this time (for a little change) with the boys. We met up with Guy and the groomsmen in the Great Scot Bar in Cameron House before checking in on Lissa and catching her finishing touches. After a very emotional ceremony, with beautiful readings given by both mothers, it was onto the formal pictures. You can see from the selection below just how much fun everything about this wedding was. Lissa, Guy, the bridal party and all the guests were just so much fun to work with.

Lissa looked absolutely sensation. Perfect dress, hair and make up. And although an Englishman I think Guy carried the kilt off with aplomb, infact better than many Scots would!  One wee thing about this wedding. As I am sure you already know I often shoot at Cameron House. However with Lissa and Guy we pushed ourselves to create more different and varied shots. Every time we visit this location we are looking for another angle or shot. Lissa was inspirational and provided us with the stunning door shot above and this shot below is one I had been wanting to do for ages. I am delighted that it popped up in the Scottish Wedding Directory shortly afterwards. I cannot praise this couple highly enough - I love them !

Cameron House Wedding - Joanne and Calum

Cameron House Wedding

What an absolutely fabulous day we had shooting Joanne and Calum's Cameron House wedding. It was a stunning day with the sun and loads of smiling faces out in force.  Joanne is a Nursery and a Dance teacher and all her kids had come out to greet her at St Marys Church in Kirkintilloch. We even had a cheerleaders 'guard of honor' waiting outside the church for when the bride and groom had walked down the aisle. Once we left this magnificent church we headed straight to the bandstand in Kirkintillochs Peel Park. This was something that was important to Joanne and somewhere she had always wanted to have her wedding pictures taken. To be honest I was a little concerened about the extra time it would add to the day but thought it too good an oppertunity to miss.

I am so glad that we did. The shots at the bandstand were incredible and since the wedding have featured in many magazine articles and featured on the front page of the Scottish Wedding Directory. Not bad for a 10 minute detour to the local park. Besides I need not have worried about time...........especailly as the wedding car decided it needed a rest between the park and the Cameron House wedding reception. Adding this unfortuate incedent to Easter Holiday Loch Lomond traffic and it was a good 45 minutes late that the bride and groom eventually arrive - in the back of a Pergeot 406 !!
However a mixture of our speedy skills and Cameron Houses professionalism meant that we were soon back on track with the time. We even managed a cheeky little evening shot as the sun set and the sky turned pink. Above all else however I should stress what an absolutely fantastic couple Joanne and Calum are. Despite the hiccups with the transport nothing dented their good humour. Nothing on the day was too much bother for them and they were so freindly and so full of fun all day that I often felt more like a guest of the wedding that the offcial photographer. An absolutely outstanding couple.

Ross Priory Wedding at Loch Lomond - Shona & Stuart

Ross Priory Wedding at Loch Lomond

I havent been to a Ross Priory Wedding for years and years.

I can honestly say that after Shona and Stuarts wedding at Loch Lomond that I cannot wait to get back to this fantastic venue. Ross Priory sits on the banks of Loch Lomond just at Gatocharn and is a wee bit of a hidden gem.  It was certainly the perfect venue for Stuart and Shona. Everything took place at the venue on the day, which I always thinks makes for a more relaxing (certainly less stressful) day. Once ready Shona only had to come down stairs to get to the ceremony performed by the, always entertaining,  Rev Ian Miller.

With Shona and Stuarts own minister coming out of retirement to officiate part of the ceremony it was a lovely, intimate and personal ceremony. Then, blessed with some unseasonably bright sunshine, it was outside to go and shoot in the wonderful grounds of the Priory. The gardens are absolutely stunning, with the iconic walled garden showing up even better than I remember. Stuart did remarkably well squeezing himself into the wall for that great shot of the couple together, I knew he was a natural model ! Shona, as you can see, looked absolutely beautiful and together they make a really great couple. I cannot wait to see how their final wedding albums shapes up as this was one of the highlights of the year for me.

Wedding at Cameron House - Royah and Ed

Wedding at Cameron House -  Royah and Ed

What a beautiful wedding at Cameron House this was. Royah and Ed had travelled up from London with their daughter, friends and family to get married on the shores of Loch Lomond.  Now here I have to make a confession, which as a Scotsman may well see me exiled........ I prefer blokes to wear a suit at a wedding ! I know it's almost sacrilege but check out these pictures and tell me how smart Ed looks? It goes without saying that the gorgeous Royah looks amazing too, but guys, think about it - pockets !!

I am frequently amazed that so many couples come from all over the world to Loch Lomond and Cameron House in particular. I guess it's a real testament to the natural beauty of the area, the friendliness of the people and of course the cracking venues right on the Loch. I wouldn't want to be a photographer anywhere else !

Weddings at Cameron House - Fiona and Ian

Fiona and Ian's Cameron House Wedding was a lovely day which took us back to our favourite stomping ground on the banks of Loch Lomond.

This was a real Celtic affair with Fiona's Scottish friends and family mixing very well with Welshman Ian's contingent who had travelled up to Scotland for a wonderfully warm ceremony. Fiona and Ian had been brought together by a mutual friend who thought they would be perfect together. With the entire day taking place at Cameron House it was a nice and relaxed affair with only the very strong winds putting a little spanner in the photography works. Sadly we did not manage out to the loch side but thankfully with Cameron House there are some many nice areas indoors to take pictures that it hardly matters. The last shot of the 5 here is of Ian and Fiona with their 'matchmaker' (awwwwwwww)
