Boturich Castle Wedding - Laura and Stuart

Boturich Castle Wedding

2014 felt like a year that we shot weddings for our friends rather than clients, and Laura and Stuarts Boturich Castle Wedding was no exception. Laura runs her own fashion boutique in Helensburgh, Laura Kate so I knew her wedding was going to be a stylish affair. When we arrived at her parents house for the bridal prep shots we were not disappointed. She looked absolutely stunning.
It was also one of the many occasions that we had an outdoor ceremony in 2014. This time at the fabulous Boturich Castle overlooking Loch Lomond. Just to add to all the great things that were happening on the day the wedding was conducted by Linda Britton, our favourite celebrant.

During the ceremony there was lots of laughter (based on Stuart the grooms cheek) and tears (courtesy of Laura's sister, who cracked during the readings). We then had a fantastic relaxed time as Laura and Stuart had sensibly set aside an adequate amount of time for the photography. This allowed us to shoot the required and requested groups, some wonderful shots of Laura and Stuart and still have lots of mingling and informal time for the couple to greet their guests. As you can see it was the perfect weather for a Scottish wedding. Dry, bright, slightly overcast then, in the evening, beautifully clear allowing us one of those famous Boturich sunsets.

A fantastic couple who are going to have one amazing album to look back on. It was one of those perfect wedding days where just everything clicked into place. It obviously helps that we have such a great relationship with the couple but I cannot begin to explain how rewarding it is when the couple afford a bit of time and respect for the actual photography itself. Given just that little bit of relaxed time allows you to capture images as beautiful as those above.

Boturich Castle Wedding - Alan and Victoria

Boturich Castle Wedding - Alan and Victoria

This brilliant Boturich Castle Wedding with Alan and Victoria is one of my favourite weddings of the year. It was pretty pretty much 99% of the way I think the perfect wedding should be held. Victoria and Alan had brought their guests up from the Yorkshire area for a wedding boasting the best possible views of Loch Lomond.
In typical Scottish fashion though this gorgeous part of the world decided to show off and give the guests all four season in one afternoon!!

The beauty of a wedding at Boturich Castle (and I obviously don't recommend this for all weddings) was that Victoria could 'sit out' the incoming rain and get married when it dried up again. Originally due to get married at 1pm a passing rain storm meant that we sat it out and the ceremony took place at nearly 2pm! It also helps that the registrar, the piper (the legendary Colin Lawrie) , myself and Boturich were totally flexible and just wanted the best for the couple.

After the rain had passed Vitoria and Alan enjoyed a beautiful sunny outdoor ceremony before mingling with their guests and then a relaxing photoshoot giving me some absolutely stunning images.

All in all a brilliant day !

A tribute not just to the couple but also to the professional team they had entrusted their day to.

Boturich Castle Wedding - Rebecca & Craig

Boturich Castle Wedding, Loch Lomond

Our Boturich Castel Wedding with Rebecca and Craig probably took place on one of the wettest days of the summer. The couple and many of their guests had come  all the way over from Canada for a summery Scottish wedding but unfotuately the (typical) Scottish weather let them down big style.

It was such a shame as they are such a lovely couple but at least I know that I didnt let them down and gave them a great set of picture pictures, Lynda the celebrant didnt let them down with a lovely service and Boturich Castle certainly didnt let them down with providing everything they could have wanted.

I am really happy to say though that the weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the couple or their guests. It was a lovely humanist ceremony by Lynda finishing with a traditional hand-fasting before the couple  braved the elements for some shots outside. I have to doff my cap to Rebecca who was great to photograph and who had not problems at all getting an umbrella and heading outdoors for her pictures

I guess the couple may have been expecting inclement weather as they had specially made umbrellas made with Scottish and Canadian flags to give to each of their guests as favours. We than stayed to cover the brilliant wedding speeches and some of the dancing at night, with music supplied by the Jiggers, who were excellent. Our final shot of the day was Craig and Rebecca outside with sparklers. I have to say that although this was a tricky shot to get right the results are....... sparkling?

Boturich Castle Wedding - Michelle and James

Back to one of my favorite haunts for Michelle and James's wedding at Boturich Castle.

With a brilliant sunny day, a stunning venue, a handsome couple and Rev Ian Miller officiating there wasnt much else we could have asked for. Rev Miller was in sparkling form and really brought the ceremony to life. As with many couples today, Michelle and James had a special guest at the wedding - daughter Sophie. So it was very important to make sure she was included in as many pictures as possible.

We actually planned out the pictures to allow us a 20 minute break during which time we could shoot a quick family portrait of the couple with little Sophie. It worked a treat and we got some beautiful shots of the 3 of them together. As you can see from above the shots of the couple with the wonderful backdrop turned out ok too!

I was really impressed again with Boturich. Its a simply splendid venue which offers unparalleled views of Loch Lomond and always lends itself to  a really relaxed laid back day. Laura and Ruairidh (the owners) really have weddings here down to a tee and you can be assured of a brilliant day with these guys in charge.

Boturich Castle Wedding - Clare and Ian

Boturich Castle Wedding

There is a saying in Loch Lomond - if you can't see the Ben (Lomond) its raining, if you can see the Ben..... it's about to rain.

This pretty much sums up our day with Clare and Ian. Clare got ready at one of the lodges at Cameron House before making her way to Luss Church. As usual the service passed off like clockwork at Luss but as we came out of the church, the heavens opened !

So brollies and Plan B where put into action. We still got some beautiful 'moody' shots by the loch side before we made our way up to Boturich Castle for the reception. Once there, the rain receded, the clouds parted and we were treated to that special view of Loch Lomond you only get from Boturich.

It was a fitting way for the day to run. Ian and Clare stay in Australia so meeting up beforehand was a mad dash, as was the wedding day. I think these guys only got a chance to relax when the wheels left the tarmac and they left the UK for their honeymoon.

Boturich Castle Wedding - Lynsey & John

Boturich Castle Wedding

My first Boturich Castle wedding. Stunning day, Stunning wedding, amazing couple.

Boasting probably the best views possible of Loch Lomond this venue is a real 'hidden gem' which I am lucky enough to have almost on my doorstep. Lynsey and John had come up from Yorkshire with most of Lynsey's family coming from Sweden for the wedding.  I am so pleased that Scotland turned on the style for them.

Boturich Castle Wedding

As you can probably tell it was a blistering hot day but the heat, drinks and outdoor feel to this wedding made the whole day such a relaxed affair it was hard not to be jealous of the guests!!

Due to the unique conditions of the day we knew we were going to get an awesome sunset. What we didnt bank on was the awesome dancing display put on by John and best man Scott to the tune of 'Cotton Eye Joe' ..... I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before - they were amazing !!

And so was the sunset......This goes down as our favourite picture from the day.
