Chinese Wedding at Dakota/Park Circus - Wan & Ling

Dakota Wedding

We started 2012 with one of the most amazing weddings I have ever been to. A traditional Chinese wedding with Wan and Ling.

We started the day really early at the Dakota Hotel (at Eurocentral) at 7am !! Ling looked absolutely amazing and was ready just in time for the boys arriving at 8am. With a Chinese wedding the groom and his attendant try and 'gain entry' to the bride's house/room and 'take her away' to get married - almost against her will. Before Wan gets in he has to prove his worthiness by passing some tests. These took the form of questions on Ling (kind of Mr & Mrs style) with a forfeit for every wrong question. Unfortunately for Wan's attendants he got a few of the questions wrong and one of the forfeits was for one of the guys to get a leg wax strip applied to his leg!

After persuading Ling to come with him we left the Dakota and it was onto Park Circus where a lovely simple civil ceremony took place. Then after our customer 15 minutes shooting inside Park Circus it was onto the Chinatown Restaurant in Glasgow. Then began a 10 course traditional Chinese banquet - quite an amazing spectacle, as plateful after plateful was presented to each table !!

Unbelievably the food finished, the guest leave and then ....... another set of guests arrive and they do it all again!!

It was a long beautiful and exciting day. We never really knew what to expect next and with so much colour, noise and exotic ceremony it was a day which I don't think we will ever forget. A great day out and, as you would expect, a fabulous set of pictures. Thank you Wan & Ling - 1500 Photography

The Big ShinDig 2012

The Big ShinDig 2012

Its always been a goal for me to involved 1500 Photography in some sort of charitable exercise and use our skills to help raise money for worthy causes. I am delighted and proud to have been able to lend support to this years "Big ShinDig"  in aid of the Maggie Centre Glasgow. A wonderful evenings entertainment was had with compare Gary Hollywood keeping the evening bubbling along brilliantly. A number of fund raising games, auctions and sponsored events raised an amazing total of over £10,000 on the night.

The inspiration for the night was close friend of the organiser, Lisa Morrison. Lisa was diagnosed with cervical cancer at the age of just 33 and she has bravely battled on with the support of friends, family and the Maggie centre. Probably the most touching and awe inspiring moments on the night was one of Lisa's friends having a 'sponsored head shave' which raised over £2000 on its own!!

I wish there was a happy end to this blog post but unfortunately Lisa lost her battle just shortly after the event. However anyone and everyone who reads this can make a difference, even for as little as £1.

Please text LILI99£ (followed by your amount) to 70070. Any and all donations to the Maggie's Centre will, I'm sure, be gratefully received. Thank you.

Our Wedding Shot of the Year is......... Pam and Alan !!

Wedding Shot Of The Year

Congratulations to Pam and Alan who will now grace the front page of 1500photography.wpstagecoach.com and received a 10x8 framed version of their winning shot . Without a word of a lie I think this was one of the best pictures I took in 2011. Taken during the couple exchanging vows on the day you can read so much  into Pam's face.

Wedding Shot Of The Year

In second place is the lovely Susanne and Kevin whose wedding at Brig O'Doon was a real highlight of the year for me.

And finally in joint 3rd place we have Jennie and Macca and Ashley and Richard. Two cracking couples both of whom had fantastic days which couldn't have been more different. Ashley was a summer garden party at Moorpark house, Jennie was a brisk winter's day on the shores of Loch Lomond.

Congratualtions to all 4 winners and thank you so much for voting and for trusting 1500 to shoot your weddings. As always I found it impossible to vote myself as loved all the shots shortlisted for different reasons. Already we are underway with weddings this year and I will be posting more wedding pictures very soon. Thank you all for taking the time to look in. 1500 Photography

Cameron House Wedding - Craig & Zoe

Cameron House Wedding

This wedding at Cameron House, between Craig and Zoe, was our last wedding of 2011.

Craig popped the question only 3 weeks before the wedding at the end of November and since then the couple managed to organise everything to make a perfect day on the shores of Loch Lomond. After a lovely civil ceremony we took the couple out to the front door of the hotel for a few 'trademark' 1500 shots (that's all the weather would allow!!) before once again making the very most of the Cameron House interior.

This was a lovely way to sign off 2011, with probably one of the most memorable shots of the year.

Zoe resplendent on the boardroom table !! I have to say that this was just a passing thought from me which was very quickly taken up by Craig and Zoe, next thing you know we have set up a cracking shot which both the couple and myself absolutely delighted with finished shot.

We also had time to shoot a festive version of our big award winning shot featured on the front page of our website. It's a festive twist on Darren and Victoria's shot also taken at Cameron House. A brilliant finish to a fantastic year for 1500 Photography. I would love to say that we then put our feet up and relaxed but as you will see , 2012 was up and running very soon indeed.........

Wedding Shot of the Year 2011 - Get Voting !!

Its that time of year again. Time to vote for……

1500 Photography’s “Wedding Shot of the Year”

Have a look through the images and pick your two favourites.  Obviously many of the couples involved will want to vote for themselves, this is absolutely fine as long as you remember and cast two votes in total which will help ascertain the best picture taken by 1500 Photography in 2011. This was really really hard for me to only pick only one shot from each wedding as there are so many that I love, so my apologies if your own personal favourite isnt there.
The winners  will not only receive the ‘kudos’ of being voted the most popular picture of 2010 but they will also receive a framed 10×8 of the image and find themselves gracing the front page of our website.

Pass this link onto friends, family and colleagues and get as many votes as you can. Last year saw a few twitter  and facebook campaigns so the more the merrier - Good Luck !

The poll closes on the 10th Feb 2012. The winner will be announced on 13th Feb

Lodge on the Loch Wedding - Jennifer and Martin (Jennie and Macca)

Lodge on the Loch Wedding

Scheduled to be our last wedding of 2011, Jennie and Macca's Lodge on the Loch wedding was going to be something special. Not just because it was the last one but also because the couple themselves are a great laugh and were really looking forward to getting their pictures taken. We started off with Jennie getting ready at the Lodge on the Loch before making our way down to beautiful Luss Church for the ceremony.

It had been raining pretty hard the week of the wedding and I have to say that this was the highest I had ever seen Loch Lomond at Luss. There was very little between the pier and the water, as you can see below.

Jennie and Macca were superb out in the chilly December air and gave us some lovely shots, then it was back to the Lodge for a full group of everyone and then dinner and speeches. I must say - the speeches were absolutely fantastic, what a great laugh was had (mostly at Macca's expense) before the dancing began.

I should mention that the band on the night were the superb 'The Jiggers' and boy did they have their work cut out for them. Getting a room full of English people through a ceilidh is always a spectacle!!  Brilliant day, top couple and some of the best evenings entertainment I have seen for a while. Thank you Jennie and Macca.

Loch Lomond Youth Hostel Wedding - Kim and David

Loch Lomond Youth Hostel Wedding

This was our first wedding at Loch Lomond Youth Hostel, but not our first wedding with Kim and David.

We had previously worked together at Elspeth and Tom's wedding at Cameron House a couple of years ago (Kim was one of the bridesmaids and Dave a dutiful guest). We started Davids day with my first foray into sports photography....... Rather 'adventurously' David has organised a full scale 11 a side football match for all the male guests coming to the wedding. I don't mind telling you I winced at every 50/50 tackle although it should be noted that everyone came through the match unscathed.

Then it was onto Cameron House where Kim and the girls were putting together their finishing touches.

Unfortunately the rain on the day did not let up once. So heavy was the rain that you couldn't see Loch Lomond from the Youth Hostel. However we were lucky that both the interior of Cameron House and The Youth Hostel lend themselves rather nicely to photography, so we were not short of opportunities for great shots.

Kim and Dave also had some of the best table decorations I have ever seen - homemade album covers. They looked absolutely fantastic. A wedding in a Youth Hostel is a brilliantly novel idea. The thought of the guests all sleeping in bunk beds and making their own breakfast in the morning certainly gets the imagination going....

Then, after the wedding, we set our own new record. Within the space of 7 days the album was made up, checked, changed twice, and printed ready for the couple to take away. This is not usual service but a special case as Kim and David live down south and are emigrating early in 2012.

A fantastic couple who take with them to Uganda our love and very best wishes.
