Amanda & Stewart Pt 2 - 1500 Days

I almost forgot to mention one of the most delightful bits of serendipity Ive ever heard of. As a romantic statement to make during his grooms speech on the day Stewart counted up how long he and Amanda had been together.

The answer was exactly 1500 days.

House for an Art Lover Wedding - Amanda & Stewart

House for an Art Lover Wedding - Amanda and Stewart

This House for an Art Lover wedding was a real highlight for me.

Amanda and Stewart are a brilliant couple and on our very first meeting I was welcomed into parents Susan and Ian's home and immediately made to feel like a family friend. On the day of the wedding we were back at Susan and Ian's to get Amanda's preparation shots.

Ian had this idea for a picture of Amanda in the mirror with the family portrait in the background. I really like the idea and not only did it make a great picture  but its gone on to feature in the latest issue of the Scottish Wedding Directory. Thanks Ian !!

Weddings at House for an Art Lover always run like clockwork and this is great credit to James the co-ordinator at the venue. He is always there to make sure that a brides every whim is looked after (and to make sure the photographer doesn't take too long!!) We were also really lucky with the weather which went from gusty rain to a lovely sunny day within the space of 2 hours. Amanda and Stewart were just fantastic to photograph and nothing was too much bother for them. Their willingness and enthusiasm to get great pictures guaranteed a brilliant day for me and a fabulous album for them.

A top venue, top couple, lovely families and fantastic set of pictures.

Houston House Wedding - Graeme & Nicola

Houston House Wedding

What a cracking couple Graeme and Nicola are. Really relaxed and laid back.

As usual we started off in Nicolas room getting some of the final preparation shots. With (oddly a first for me) a lovely shot of all the girls in their bath robes first! Then it was onto the ceremony before shooting the rest of the shots around the gardens of Houston House.

I think Nicola looked absolutely stunning and what a beautiful dress.

It is with some amusement I note that the 'big tree' in the grounds of  Houston House, a staple of all wedding photography there for goodness knows how long, has developed an alarming lean !! I have no idea what we are all going to do if the hotel take it away. I think a campaign should be launched now, just in case.......

Balbirnie House Wedding - Alan & Pam

Balbirnie House Wedding

Well now that all the award excitement has died down, back to the weddings.

As trailed before the events at Dunblane Hydro, Pam and Alan were married at Balbirnie House in Glenrothes in Fife. I had also mentioned before Pam and Alan were the 3rd couple I have photographed in the Cureton family but this was the first wedding I have ever shot where the bridesmaid and bride were both expecting!!

We started the day at Pam's Mum and Dads before making our way to Balbirnie for the service and reception. It was a typical Scottish spring day........cloudy to miserable. However I have to admit that we were lucky to find lots of brilliant spots in and around this stunning venue for our pictures. I also put myself in major jeopardy but not, for a change, with heights or perilous positions to get pictures. But by almost choking myself by kneeling down to shoot through the chandelier in the 4th shot above - then trying to stand up again without noticing I was kneeling on my tie.......Not my smoothest moment but at least it gave the couple a laugh.

Pam and Alan are a great couple. I had a wonderful time at your wedding and cant wait to meet jnr. All the very best to you both.

By the way isnt Stuart a great name ..........?

Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year - Stuart Wood

Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year

Amazed, Proud, Delighted......

All these and more just about sum up how I felt about picking up the title of  'Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year' at this years MPA event at Dunblane Hydro. We picked up some of the best possible awards for our business. First we won 'Classic Wedding Photographer of the Year' with this shot of Victoria & Darren

We then picked up a couple of merit awards for our shots from Amanda & James' wedding and Stephanie & Grahams

We then won the award that we really wanted -

"Best Complete Wedding" with Victoria & Darren's wedding

With the above body of work we were then crowned

"Scottish Wedding Photographer of the Year"

I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I am to have finally got my hands on this trophy. I owe a huge debt of thanks to Victoria and Darren who chose me to shoot their wedding, the wedding staff at Cameron House who are always very professional and understand the importance of photography on the wedding day and most of all.....Ms Price.

My other half who has supported me, assisted me and encouraged me from day one of 1500 Photography. I could not have got this award without her - thank you Gillian x

Wedding at Balburnie House - Pamela & Alan (the hattrick!!)

All my weddings are special - so what made this one stand out?

Well, it was the third and final wedding I will be shooting for the Cureton family. Previously I have shot Colin and Judith's wedding, Tracy and Riad's wedding (blogged last Nov) and now Pamela and Alan's wedding at Balburnie House.

1500 on either side of the bride and groom, with Tracy and Riad to the right, and Colin and Judith with baby Brennan on the left.

I will post more details on Pam & Alan's wedding shortly but just wanted to post this picture now to let you all know how absolutely chuft I am with my 'hattrick' of weddings.
