What can I say about Katy and Danny's Glasgow University Wedding ? Quite simply an amazing day packed to the rafters with absolute quality, attention to detail and lots and lots of 'weather'. Brilliant sunshine, strong winds, torrential downpours and then back to a lovely day with a fantastic sunset.





Again this was another wedding mostly sourced and organise by the groom as Katy lives and works abroad. Choosing Glasgow University and Mar Hall as the wedding venues was an inspired choice by Danny. Two fantastic venues which give you so much scope for great photography. We started the day down at Katys parents house before making our way to the university. After a lovely service we packed all the guests onto the iconic stairs outside before taking Katy and Danny back inside the chapel for a few shots. Just as we were starting our group pictures in the quadrant the heavens opened. Thankfully everyone could take shelter in the cloisters (except the photographer and photographers assistant - sorry Gillian) meaning that we could carry on getting great pictures, like the shirt ripping superhero shots, in the dry.





After that it was onto the sumptuous Mar Hall where once again we were spoiled for choice with photo opportunities. My personal favourite is the last one we shot. After the stormy day we had such a beautiful watercolour sunset it was almost too easy to silhouette Katy and Danny against this magical sky.

Finally a word from Katy on her experience with 1500

Stuart and Gillian are truly wonderful people to have photograph your wedding! They are so professional and fun. Gillian is there holding umbrellas over you in the rain and making sure everything runs smoothly whilst Stuart works his magic creating stunning photographs. He managed to capture all the beautiful moments of our big day! We cannot thank you both enough! Xxx

Mar Hall Wedding - Rita and Ian

 Mar Hall Wedding

Rita and Ian's Mar Hall wedding was a fantastic 'surprise' for 1500 Photography. Ian, the groom, managed to organise the wedding within the space of about 6 weeks. Bankie (Clydebank) boy Ian met Rita in China where they both work. However Ian decided it was back home to Scotland when they tied the knot. The wedding was almost like a street party with all the guests living in the same street that Ian had grown up in and where his mother still lives. That sense of community like a family is something that doesn't really exist anymore and it was amazing to witness how close everyone was.





As you can see Rita looked absolutely amazing and was an absolute pleasure to photograph despite not speaking very much English. The couple made their vows in chinese and when Rita slipped the expression "wee scunner" into the vows it nearly brought the house down. A terrific couple who were great fun to shoot. Susan and Greg's Lochside House wedding was one of *the* highlights of 2014. Not only was it a memorable day with a fantastic couple but it's also gone on to be one of the best award-winning weddings we've ever shot. So far this wedding has gained us awards in Scotland with the Master Photographers Association in the categories of Complete Wedding, Monochrome and Classic wedding. It has also just been picked for an award with Olympus and the first picture here (of the dress being buttoned up) will be one of the top 10 wedding pictures of the year in their competition.



I love this wedding so much that anyone who comes to see me will see this wedding album now as one of my samples. It's a great illustration of what you can do with a couple who are determined to get the shots that they want working with a photographer fully committed to doing the best possible job for them. Almost all the pictures you can see in this post were taken in the rain.





Fortunately Lochside House has a large canopy at the front of the venue which allowed us to shoot the bride and groom in relative dryness. However Susan was adamant that she wanted to get a picture of her and Greg at the iconic bridge (bottom middle). So armed with the 1500 Photography umbrella, a big towel and my lovely assistant we made our way down. We achieved a stunning picture, which is possibly one of my favourite ever shots. And all because Susan knew what she wanted from the day and I knew how to make it happen. A fantastic day
