29 Royal Exchange Square Wedding - Anna and Stephen

29 Royal Exchange Square Wedding

Not many weddings give me goosebumps after almost 20 years in the business, but Anna and Stephens 29 Royal Exchange Square Wedding did just that to me ! It was during the Easter Wedding and Glasgow was bathed in warm sunlight. Anna arrived in the city centre looking absolutely wonderful and was dropped off by her wedding car on Queen Street, right outside the GOMA. The square itself was absolutely mobbed with people out enjoying a little lunch, shopping or just generally milling around. Then as Anna walked arm in arm with her Dad through the crowds, the piper started to play and a remarkable thing happened.
The whole square burst into a spontaneous round of applause.

Once everyone had composed themselves again Anna made her way indoors for a lovely ceremony inside No 29. However that wasnt the end of Glasgow's 'audience participation'. You see before the wedding Anna and I had discussed this crazy idea of the bride and bridesmaids walking arm in arm up Buchanan Street........ how could I resist the idea of a shot like that? Once again the people around us didn't let us down as the girls totally 'owned' the busiest street in Scotland for 10 minutes.

It feels like I am only telling half the story though. I havent mentioned Stephen the groom. Well as you can see we had the lads outside too. It was by and large one of the most memorable days Ive ever had as a photographer. Stephen and Anna were absolutely fantastic, not just to photograph but to simply hang out with. Generous with their time, patient with pictures and great fun to be with.

Oh yeah, and I havent even mentioned paying off Big Issue vendors, buskers following us, being well taken care of by Micheal at No 29 or going back outdoors about 10pm to get a wonderfully iconic shot of the couple framed by the floodlit Gallery of Modern Art. A truly wonderful packed day with a brilliant couple. Fantastic

Luss Church Wedding, Loch Lomond - Amy and Alex

Luss Church Wedding, Loch Lomond

Shooting Amy and Alex's Luss Church Wedding was a day that will live long in my memory. I have never met a couple who look so good together, who are so totally in love with each other or who have been through so much together. When I first met the couple Alex had been quite poorly, by the time the wedding rolled around I barely recognised him. Full of life, energy and above all else - blooming handsome! And before you get the wrong idea though I have to say that Amy is simply gorgeous and one of the nicest brides we've ever worked with. With such stunning couple, how could i possibly go wrong. This wedding also featured everyones favourite minister Rev Ian Miller who conducted the ceremony which featured possibly the longest and most passionate 'first kiss' I think anyone has ever seen!!

When we opened the doors of Luss Church to exit after the ceremony we were greeted with hurracain style horizontal rain! So we waited it out in the church for 15 minutes before a lull allowed us outside for some shots by the shore. By the time we arrived at Cameron House, it was like a completely different day. The sun shone the wind died and we got Amy and Alex outside for some lovely loch shore images.

Wedding at Glasgow University and House for an Art Lover - Ruth and David

A wedding at Glasgow University is alway an absolute pleasure, and Ruth and Davids was no exception.

wedding at glasgow uni

A cool spring day with a great couple who were brilliant fun to be around. Ruth actually works at Glasgow University. Although it's a fabulous building with so many stunning architectural features I guess not many brides have their pictures taken around their workplace ! After the ceremony it was off to may favourite city venue - House for an Art Lover

When we had finished our shots in the cloisters I thought we were done taking pictures outside. However, well done to Ruth and David, we popped over into the walled garden at House for an Art Lover for a few more shots. (Although that might also have been to give the couple a little bit of 'alone' time - very precious on a wedding day) Then we had some brilliant speeches which had both the bride and groom with their head in their hands at various points. After dinner we nipped back outside for a couple of evening shots. I am really enjoying taking some more 'exciting' pictures in the dark and against the floodlit backdrops of many of the venues. House for an Art Lover weddings though really lend themselves to all sorts of possibilities day or night and I think that is why it is such a firm favourite of 1500

Cameron House Wedding - Frazer and Claire

Cameron House Wedding

My first Cameron House wedding of 2014 almost spoiled me for the year. Few brides look as stunning as Claire did on her day. I also, within the first few frames of the day captured one of my favourite shots of 2014. The image below of Claire at the window just blows me away (I even voted for it myself in the annual poll)

Cameron House Wedding

Once I had shot the bridal preparation shots at Cameron House, it was onto Luss church. I know I have written many times on this blog about this great little church but it is set in simply one of the most beautiful spots in Scotland. It looks fantastic - even on a 'moody' day like Claire and Frazer's wedding.

The mist on Loch Lomond barely lifted all day but that didn't really matter. Once the wedding ceremony was over we made our way down onto the little beach at Luss then onto the pier. A few months before the wedding Frazer and Claire had their engagement pictures taken on the same spot. It was lovely to revisit the pictures taken that day on the wedding day, although Claire was considerably more wrapped up on the engagement shoot!

Once back at Cameron House the couple were looked after in the style you would always associate with this 5 star venue. It was also lovely to see some of our other clients at the wedding too. Natalie and Stuart (owners of Diva the prize winning dog) and Ian (Tosh) and the very lovely Sharon were in attendance too. These are exactly the kind of wedding I absolutely adore. Loch Lomond, Cameron House, Luss Church, great couple and lots of friends and family giving the couple all their love. A very very warm day, completely regardless of the weather.
