Engagement Shoot - Sam and Willie

Just to let you see something a wee bit different......

Samantha and Willie are getting married in June,  so last week we went out for an 'engagement' style shoot. The main purpose of this sitting was to let Samantha see how her make-up would photograph and give Willie some idea of what it felt like having his picture taken professionally (a common concern for guys). It also allowed me to see how the guys would photograph.

Im please to report it was a roaring success all round. Sam and Willie had an excellent time, the couple themselves photographed really well and the shots looked fantastic and even though it was bucketing of rain.

The Buchanan Arms Wedding Pictures - Isla and Paul

When I was a young whipper-snapper (get it?) I used to shoot a lot of weddings up at the Buchanan Arms, but I havent been there for a few years now. In fact I shudder to think how old Paul and Isla would have been when I was a regular shooter at Drymen.....

Anyway, what a superb day we had. Despite both half's of the wedding party running a little late and an extended service (although to be fair Paul is a trainee minister, so its only right that priority was given to ceremony) we still found time to head up to the viewpoint, nip over the hill to Balmaha, take some cracking shots, arrange a full group outside the hotel and still finish bang on schedule.

And what a sumptuous backdrop for the pictures Balmaha proved to be - well worth the trip.

Not bad eh? To be honest I could have posted 20 pictures from just the Balmaha shots alone, I am exceptionally grateful for all the enthusiasm and effort Paul and Isla put into the pictures and for all the assistance lent to us by best man David. I had actually feared at one stage we may have cut the Balmaha trip out to catch up on time. I am so glad we didnt (mostly at Paul and Isla's insistence) and we were well rewarded with some beautiful images.

My very best wishes to Isla and Paul now both studying hard back down in Blackpool.

The Bothy, Wedding - Ian & Eilidh

Another new venue for 1500 to visit. In fact we are delighted to be the first photographers at a wedding staged at The Bothy in Glasgow’s West End. Ian and Eilidh are friends of Dan and Natalie (who feature in the banner picture on the blog, above) but the two weddings could not have been more different. As oppose to the wide open landscapes we had in Luss, Iain and Eilidh had the ‘urban chic’ look to their city wedding.

The feel and style of this wedding was really enjoyable and inspiring with everything from Eilidhs beautiful dress, the intimate ceremony and the stylish interior of The Bothy, all lending themselves to some terrific shots. Even the peeling and ‘rustic’ garage doors in the lane looked amazing. A great day with the cherry on the cake being a picture with all 60 guests crammed into the lane for a group shot. As the last image was taken, the rain came on and the stampede to get back inside started ……….

A really nice couple who were calm, relaxed and really great to work with on the day. I wish all weddings were this easy - thanks Eilidh and Ian

2008 Photo of the Year Award

As I said,  as well as the prestige of winning our inaugural "Picture of the Year" Poll the winners would receive a small token to celebrate winning. Here I am pictured presenting Lee-Ann and Kieran with their winning shot.

Deserved winners and a cracking couple into the bargain. Well done again guys.

I think next year, I will wear a tie though........
