Nicola and Paul

Well this was my first visit to Western House and it was a very memorable day, for two reasons.

One - Nicola and Paul, a great couple

Two - Jane, the wedding co-ordinator at Western House. I used to work with Jane a lot when she was at Brig O’Doon but I havent seen her for many years. It was lovely to see her again and to see that she is still as enthusiastic with her weddings as ever.

I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed this day. Nicola and Paul made my life very easy on the day and were superb to work with (as were all the bridal party). We got some terrific shots in and around the grounds of the hotel despite the very changeable weather, thanks to Nicola and Paul and their willingness to get the shots.

I look forward to returning to Western House next year but I will always look back to this wedding with great fondness mostly due to a brilliant couple.

David and Alix ~ (repost)

The origonal post here disappeared, mysteriously…… so here it is again.

We had a great day with Alix and Dave at the Barony Hall in Glasgow. After catching both parties getting ready at the Millenium Hotel, it was on to the stunning setting of the Barony. Alix looked absolutely beautiful, the hall looked amazing and David looked great in his morning suit (a very refreshing change for a Scottish groom)

There was a real connection the day, and I think it shows in the pictures. I am hughly grateful to Dave and Alix, not only for choosing me, but for all the effort they put into getting the pictures and their enthusiasm for the photography too. Thank you both.

*UPDATE* Every year I advertise in the Real Life Weddings magazine.I make up about 4/5 dummy adverts then show them to prospective bride and grooms, take votes and print the favourite. Dave and Alix’s advert was by far the favourite from this years selection.

I always knew Alix would be a stunning bride, but who knew Dave would be model material too !!

Amanda's Dress

The dress for the wedding listed below was supplied by Peaches Bridal, in Killearn. I have been very impressed with the service and attention that Amanda got from Tracey at Peaches, not to mention the quality of the work.
If you are still hunting for your dress may I suggest a trip to the countryside to see someone who not only cares what you are wearing but also cares how you wear it.

Amanda & Paul

This was a very special wedding for me.

Amanda, Paul and I hit it off right from the start. They were among the first people to book me and put their faith in 1500 Photography. Amanda had some brilliant ideas for how her wedding was going to look and feel, different to most weddings with an 'Urban Chic' vibe. We were going to start off at the house first, then onto Park Circus for the ceremony, Botanic Gardens for pictures and then The Universal in Sauchiehall Lane, for the reception.

I have been trying to write this blog entry for a while now, but I keep getting caught up in superlatives and mush when I talk about these guys. So I thought instead of me trying to put into words how great this day was for me - I would post Amandas perspective on her wedding pictures.

Paul and I are so lucky, we have the most glorious, unique and beautifully shot photographs of our special day, add to that two new treasured friends in Stuart and Gillian. From our first appointment we knew instantly that we could put our hopes and trust in Stuart and his creative ideas were just sublime.

His direction gave Paul and I endless confidence, his repoire with our guests was so wonderful, with everyone at great ease and big smiles. His interpersonal skills and friendly while responsive nature was fantastic, even when coordinating our party in their high spirits. (Yes champagne was involved!)

We especially enjoyed the picture that arrived as a screensaver on our phones to the next day, that we showed off with pride, while on honeymoon.

I can’t thank you enough, for the fantastic memories you have helped make for my husband and I. With great warmth, respect and gratitude always, Amanda.

Not bad, eh ? I have never had such a wonderful thank you in all my life. This was a wedding where I felt a real part of the day rather than an observer. To be caught up emotionally in their wedding was a very special exprience and perhaps that shows in the pictures too. I am immensely proud of these shots and am delighted to now have two great friends in Paul and Amanda.

A terrific couple who are just the best. Thanks Guys

Ah ! Back to lovely Luss again. And in the sunshine too ! A beautiful day with a great couple. We took most of our pictures in and around Luss with a whole set on the pier. I love the shots of them at the shop !!

We finished the day at The Cruin Hotel just further up the Loch.

Paul and Sally at Barony Castle

Paul and Sally’s wedding at Barony Castle was the only wedding this year where the ceremony took place outside. A glorious day in Peebles was enjoyed by everyone as the two music teachers tied the knot in one the most picturesque parts of Scotland.

After the ceremony we took a quick tour of the grounds and found a field with a stunning vista. Unfortunately the field was closed off with a rather large padlocked gate……… but that wasnt going to stop Sally from getting the pictures she wanted. She was up and over the fence in no time and the couple were rewarded with this stunning picture

The perfect reminder of a perfect day - well done guys

Josephine and John at St Andrews in the Square

Josephine and John recently had their wedding at St Andrews in the Square. A cracking venue for a cracking couple. These guys were amongst the first couples to book 1500 Photography and we hit it off right from the get go. I have never laughed so much at a pre wedding meeting than with these two and the laughter carried through onto the day and into the pictures.

Im really proud of the pictures that John and Josephine helped me achieve. As you can see we stayed on a little later and got an brilliant shot of St Andrews in the Square floodlit (eventually ! - the sun refused to go down !!!) Thank you both for being such good sports.

Under Pressure - Friends Wedding !!

So every now and then one of your friends get married. Great news eh? But what if its really close friends? People you see every week? Famalies you know? Other friends at the wedding? All watching you !!

But all the pro’s far outweighed the cons. I was delighted to be asked to photograph the wedding.

  • a) They are not that bad looking
  • b) I’d have been exceptionally jealous had anyone else taken their pictures
  • c) Their wedding was at an excellent location - Lochside House

Although there were some drawbacks. In my case not only the pressure of getting it perfect for my friends but I was also going to loose my wingman for the day. Yes, thats right. Gillian was a bridesmaid !

However, the first (and only) problem of the day was someone running late. As Donald “relaxed” with a “coke”. We waited not for the bride - nor the groom - but one of the ushers !! Cheers Jonathan !!

Dodo and coke.....(apparently)
Relaxed & Coke (not)

Then the ladies arrived each one looking fantastic , with Lyndsay looking absolutely amazing. Its hard to gush about how great one of your friends looked but Lyndsay was stunning. As soon as she arrived I almost went into auto-pilot mode. It wasnt until I was setting up the signing the register shot that it hit me that Donald and Lyndsay had actually just got married !!

Anyway the rest of the day just flew by after that. The trickiest part of the photography was seeing my excellent jokes flounder on a bridal party who had heard most of my patter before (especially one of the bridemaids, who hears them every week!!)

heels? Dont care !

After dinner and a couple of really good speeches (and Chris’s - the best man speech too) the party got going. I nipped back to my room to check all the images, upload them, then returned to show ‘that’ bridemaid how to dance. I could’nt resist taking my camera with me though……

All in all - a perfect day. One that will live with me forever. Not just because it was 2 people who mean so much to me, or because I was even presented with a special ‘thank you’ during the speeches. And not just because it was the following Monday before I started to relax…….

But because Donald and Lyndsay are such a great couple even being at their wedding was special.I have never seen a couple so well loved by some many people - Cheers Guys x

With everything taking place at Lochside  House  I knew that the staff were going to be very helpful and the day was going to run smoothly. It did. Even the weather held for us.

Scottish 'Summer' ?

With the wedding season in full swing it was a welcome relief to have a wedding on my doorstep. Jacqueline and Jonathan got married at St Kessogs in Balloch before heading to Cameron House for their reception.

One of the main factors in these guys (who live and work down south) in choosing Cameron House for their venue was the stunning scenery. And who could blame them? The Loch, The Ben, the greenery stretching out across one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland ...... and all hidden under blanket of rain !

Fortunately not only is Cameron House a great venue regardless of the weather but I also had two of the most affable people I have ever met in my life to photograph. Both Jacqueline and Jonathan were calm, gracious and in great spirits all day. Even when Jacqueline had a minor mishap with her dress, when we were threatened with rude geese or when the weather didnt go our way - absolutely nothing fazed. The shot below was taken just as the heavens opened. The rain bounced so hard off the water a mist cloud rose and prevented us taking any more of these pictures.

....and then it really rained
....and then it really rained

A really first class couple. The only downside is that as they live down south, I wont see them that often.
